Home Visit
Our home visit includes advice on flooring types and their suitability to the area being measured, including advice on any remedial work required to ensure your new flooring looks beautiful.
We will bring suitable flooring samples, and advise on the most suitable underlay and any accessories required, such as door bars.
There are a number of key areas which need considering when calculating the cost of new floor coverings. These include:
- The number of door bars.
- Are there any doors which may need easing to prevent rubbing on the new flooring?
- The condition of the floor, are there loose floor boards or uneven surfaces which need attention before new flooring can be laid?
- Additional floor preparation with screed or ply boarding, and (if required) a damp proof membrane if fitting flooring such as wood.
- Carpet pile direction.
- Pattern repeats.
- Where to put joins.
- Whether to choose a carpet of a different width (may create less waste).
- Suitability of particular floorings.
- Charges for any furniture you may want the fitter to move.
- Charges for the fitter to uplift and dispose of any old flooring.
- Lead times and the fitting timetable.
We will then draw up a plan and produce costings for you. On acceptance, we will discuss the next stages and when payments need to be made.
The flooring will be ordered (if it is not a stock line) and you will be contacted once it has arrived to our store, so that we agree a firm fitting date.
We can usually complete this whole process within two to three weeks of placing your order, if not quicker.
Please note that some floor coverings such as LVT and natural flooring products need to be delivered to your home at least 48 hours prior to fitting to allow them to acclimatise in the area in which they are to be fitted (this helps prevent shrinkage of some floor coverings).
